Unlike traditional superhero teams, the Doom Patrol are reluctant heroes dealing with personal trauma, mental health issues, and finding their place in a world that fears and misunderstands them. The series blends surreal storytelling, mature themes, and bizarre villains while exploring concepts of identity, belonging, and what it truly means to be a hero.
